BTP

The Business Technology Platform: where extensions, integrations and development live — the 'clean core' needs a home, and this is it.

01 · What it is

SAP BTP, made clear.

BTP gathers into one platform the services to extend and integrate SAP: Integration Suite for flows, Build for low-code, HANA Cloud for data, and the AI services. It's the pillar of the clean core: a standard, upgradeable core, your logic on the platform.

Clean core
side-by-side extensions: the core stays standard and upgradeable
Integration Suite
APIs, events and mappings: the SAP-to-everything middleware
Build
low-code for apps and automations: the governed citizen developer

Account architecture

Directories, subaccounts and entitlements: BTP without governance becomes a sprawl of services.

Integration Suite, seriously

The old PI/PO flows migrate here: mappings, monitoring and alerts within our perimeter.

CAP/Build extensions

Custom logic with its own lifecycle: releases without touching the ERP.

Costs under control

BTP consumption gets measured: FinOps here too, before the bill surprises you.

03 · In depth

BTP in practice: account model and services

BTP is governed with the global account → directory → subaccount model: entitlements and quotas per environment, regions for residency. The bricks we use most: Cloud Foundry and Kyma as runtimes, CAP (Cloud Application Programming) for extensions, Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management, Event Mesh) for flows, Connectivity/Destination to talk to on-prem via Cloud Connector, and the Identity Authentication Service for SSO.

  • CAP — the framework for side-by-side extensions: Node/Java, CDS, deploy on CF or Kyma
  • Cloud Connector — the secure tunnel to on-prem: no inbound open ports
  • Integration Suite — the iFlows replacing PI/PO: mappings, adapters and SaaS monitoring
  • Event Mesh — S/4 business events to consumers: reactive integration
  • BAS — Business Application Studio: the cloud IDE for Fiori/CAP with ready dev spaces
  • Subaccount strategy — dev/test/prod separated with entitlements: BTP FinOps starts here
04 · Numbers and lifecycle

The numbers that matter.

90+
the BTP services in the catalog: the choice must be governed, not endured
2
the main runtimes (Cloud Foundry, Kyma/K8s): chosen per workload
CPEA
the consumption model with credits: the meter is monitored monthly
0
changes to the core with clean core done right: everything side-by-side
BTP pays off when it has rules: account model, naming, budget alerts and CI/CD pipelines set up by us — then the teams run on rails.
05 · Use cases

Where it really pays off.

B2B integrations

EDI, customers and suppliers: the flows that keep the supply chain moving.

Departmental apps

The app that was missing, without Z-code in the core.

Automations

Workflows and RPA on SAP processes: repetitive work that disappears.

The clean core is a discipline: BTP is the gym, we are the personal trainer.
