01 · What it is

Citrix DaaS, made clear.

Citrix DaaS moves the control plane (broker, studio, monitor) into Citrix's cloud — updated and made redundant by them — while the desktops and the apps run in the resource locations you choose: your data center, Azure, or a mix. The VDI stays yours; the effort of managing its brain doesn't.

A cloud control plane, resources where you want

Citrix DaaS moves the control plane into the Citrix cloud (the Delivery Controllers, Studio and Director become a service, updated by Citrix): the Cloud Connectors hook up the resource locations — on-prem, Azure, AWS, GCP — where the VDAs and desktops run; MCS provisions the catalogs on the hypervisors and the clouds (with on-demand provisioning to pay only for what's on), Autoscale switches off and on by schedules and buffers: the cloud cost follows the real usage.

  • Control plane evergreen — Citrix updates Studio, Director and the controllers: your upgrades disappear
  • Resource location — the desktops where it makes sense: the machine room, Azure, or both
  • Cloud Connector — two VMs per site, outbound HTTPS: no VPN nor inbound
